I enjoyed my first visit at Cafe Voltaire. The decor, the food and drinks, and overall atmosphere made a positive statement. They have homemade in house gelato and made on the spot crepes which we all found to be delicious. For the gelato, the pistachio was delicious and the earl grey was very unique. During our visit, there was a live DJ who was playing an amazing set of groovy music. Apparently there is live music at least two nights a week (DJ/musicians). I can’t wait to go back. Gainesville needs more places like this. In a world where corporate establishments are sucking the soul out of communities, I wish for this place to thrive - a place of culture and community.

I attended a friend's birthday gathering here around 7pm and found the music so loud that we had to scream to converse. It was completely the opposite of what I expected a coffeehouse hangout would be. The second time I went, I paid a little over $8 for a disappointing black coffee. The beverage had the opacity and effect of tea. When I tried to ask if the establishment had a restroom, the barista turned around and left, which was admittedly pretty funny. On the bright side, the restroom is perfectly designed for a cozy conversation, which brightened my day to see.

Take Paris, add in Chicago, and a dash of Florence, and you have Cafe Voltaire. The vibe very much is Chicago, the menu and table/chairs is very much Paris, and the rest of the decor feels like several of the cafes in Florence Italy I’ve been to. The coffee is served Parisian style, not really specialty coffee style, not Starbucks. It’s eclectic. They don’t start serving crepes til 9:30 (at least on Sundays). I’d definetly come back for the food, but for my specialty coffee preferences, I’d probably go elsewhere.

Music, atmosphere, coffee quality, food and staff are TOP. I can’t emphasize how much we enjoyed this place and the vibes. Try Hazelnut ice cream. Coffee is of high quality. Crepes are wonderful- many healthy sweet options with reasonable price.

Café Voltaire has a cozy and inviting atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in. The lighting is soft, which gives the space a calm and relaxed feel, perfect for studying or spending time with friends. The music fits the mood well, adding character without being distracting. Their menu offers a thoughtful mix of savory and sweet items, and the crepes are especially worth trying whether you want something filling or something light and sweet. As a tea drinker, I really appreciate the variety of teas, which feels like a genuine part of the menu rather than an afterthought. The combination of good food, a strong tea selection, and a warm setting makes Café Voltaire a place I look forward to returning to often.
